Subject: tt bcs 1192 MCU12/0184 Submission Greg Kildey From: Greg Kildey Date: 2013-08-22T04:40:47+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council Attention: CEO Sunshine Coast Regional Council My name is Greg Kildey. My residential address is 806 Cooroy Belli Creek Road, Ridgewood. I first became aware of the proposal for a Material Change Use for a Boiler Farm on Top Forestry Road when I attended a public meeting organised by the Cooroy Area Residents Association at the CWA Hall on Thursday 15 Aug 13. I wish to register my strongly opposition to this proposal for the following reasons: * My home is located approximately 2 km north of Top Forestry Road and I do not wish to be exposed to the sounds and smell of 1.5 million chickens, and their waste, because of the prevailing south-easterly winds in this area. There is already too much noise coming from the avocado orchard on the same property, which I can clearly hear most days. * Cooroy-Belli Creek Road is a two lane narrow and winding road barely suitable for the vehicle traffic which uses the road now, let alone the increased number of semi trailers - over 1400 I understand - that will come off Old Ceylon Road on their way into and through Cooroy. My wife Robyn was almost killed when a flat bed truck crossed over the dividing line and sliced open her car and I have read of two fatal accidents on the road this year. * The scale of the farm (ie. eight 100 metre x 16 metre sheds, located on top of the ridge-line because of the hilly terrain) will dominate the landscape, is incompatible with other rural activities and will destroy the visual amenity of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. I readily accept that farmers have the right to use their land for rural activities. In my opinion the proposed broiler farm is an industrial activity because of the huge scale and should not be approved by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council in its current form. I would appreciate it if this e-mail could be acknowledged. Regards, Greg Kildey Mobile: 0421 058 215 E-mail: [email protected]
