Att4 - Ecological Assessment Report
Ecological Assessment Report v1 NCES REF: J001061
Lot 7 on RP216403, Lot 394 on M371117, and Lot 650 on M37380 – 48-59 Kabi Road, Cootharaba
4.3.8 Vegetation Community 8 – Open Forest with managed understorey
VC8 is present within a single vegetation patch located between the existing carparking area and
existing maintenance sheds to the southwest of the proposed village locations. The community
exhibited an average canopy height of 20m.
The community contained similar species and characteristics as VC3, however, exhibited a managed
understorey (slashed grass).
The community exhibited mature and semi-mature Eucalyptus tereticornis (Queensland blue gum),
Corymbia intermedia (pink bloodwood), Eucalyptus microcorys (tallowood), Acacia spp., and
Melaleuca quinquenervia (broad-leaved paperbark) over a mown lawn and/or slashed understorey.
It was noted however, some areas exhibited Lantana camara (lantana) in the understorey as well.
Due to its modified understorey, VC8 is not considered representative of an Ecologically Important
Area under the NC Planning Scheme (refer orange shading VC01). Plate 18 depicts typical
vegetation within VC8.

4.3.9 Vegetation Community 9 – Slash pine plantation
VC9 is located entirely offsite to the north and northwest. It is characterised by a Pinus elliotii (slash
pine) plantation with various native and exotic regrowth in the understorey.
VC8 is not considered representative of an Ecologically Important Area under the NC Planning
Scheme (refer dark blue shading VC01). Plate 19 depicts typical vegetation within VC9.
