5.3.2 Mitigation Measures
The impact to the waterway is proposed to be mitigated/minimised by:
• A Fauna Management Plan is prepared for the future OPW application to manage the risk of
impact to terrestrial and aquatic fauna during civil works. The FMP includes a requirement
for a suitably qualified and experienced fauna spotter catcher to be engaged to supervise
vegetation clearing and waterway modification on the site;
• Appropriate erosion and sediment control works are recommended to mitigate any significant
impacts to the onsite waterways;
• A Waterway Rehabilitation Plan is developed to reinstate a native vegetation buffer along the
waterway to manage water quality and provide riparian habitat for local flora and fauna
(NOTE: revegetation design should consider tree fall risk and bushfire risk).; and
• The design of the waterway widening/ canoe run is to maintain inflows into the VC1a
rainforest unit in order to sustain the current assemblage of flora species and habitat
conditions present therein that have evolved under the current waterway conditions.
