2.3 Groundwater
No signs of groundwater seepage (‘springs’) were observed across the proposed development area
during our walk-over, nor was groundwater mentioned on the GD borehole reports, with the soils
described as ‘dry’ and ‘moist’.
2.4 Surface Drainage
Natural surface drainage follows the ground surface gradients from the proposed development area
shredding off the crest and ridgeline mostly to drainage lines to the north-east, south-east and west.
Generally, surface water is expected to drain well from the site considering the positive gradients and low
permeability of the clayey soils; however, poorer drainage conditions are anticipated on level areas.
No signs of significant erosion were observed around the proposed development area at the time of the
assessment; however, channel and rill erosion were observed along the driveway table drain.
2.5 Vegetation
During our walkover assessment, the proposed development area had grass ground cover. Relatively
dense bushland traced the drainage lines, with some clearing having been completed across the more
linear slope to the east. Tilting and leaning trees were observed on steeper ground along the gully heads
and drainage lines away from the proposed residence area.
Some cleared vegetation had been felled and left stockpiled above the south-eastern gully head which
could create an area of poor drainage. Measures to address that matter and improve drainage in other
areas of the site are given in Section 4.5 of this report.
