5.1 Community survey – who responded?
To encourage participation in the engagement process, a short ten question online survey was hosted on the Have Your Say engagement platform to allow Noosa
residents, as well as those who have an interest in the Shire, the opportunity to tell their own stories about the housing crisis, as well as their thoughts on the Draft
Housing Strategy.
Featuring a mix of open-ended, multiple choice and Likert Scale type questions, the survey attracted 626 responses (93.9%) from residents within Noosa Shire and 41
(6.1%) from other areas.
A quick comparison of survey respondents against 2021 Australian Census shows the participation rate reflects the demographic profile of the Noosa LGA against key
measures including age, home ownership and traditional owners. It should be noted however, that the survey shows a skew towards female participation.
Response summary
93.9% of respondents live in Noosa Shire, with 16% living in Noosa Heads, 12% living in Noosaville and 12% in Tewantin.
64.3% of respondents identified as female
46.3% of respondents were aged between 45-64
