1.1 Executive summary
Like many other local government areas across Queensland, Noosa Shire is facing a housing crisis which is causing significant social and economic impacts on the
community.

Faced with the trifecta of a lack of affordable housing, all-time low availability of rental properties and a highly-competitive housing market, Noosa Council began work on
identifying potential solutions to overcome the housing challenges to ensure the community continues to provide accessible, diverse and affordable places for people to
live in.

In December 2021, Noosa Council endorsed a Housing Needs Assessment (HNA), a comprehensive technical report on the context of housing and households in Noosa
Shire.

Using the information in the Housing Needs Assessment, Noosa Shire Council developed a draft Housing Strategy which outlines the key housing issues the community
faces and puts forward a range of actions that can be taken to overcome them.
In July-August 2022, Noosa Council undertook community engagement to gather feedback on the draft strategy and ensure the critical issue of the need for social and
affordable housing was understood by residents.

Through a series of targeted engagement activities, council was able to speak to a broad cross section of the Noosa Shire community and gain their feedback on the Draft
Noosa Housing Strategy.

This report summarises outcomes from:
•       the online survey

•       the Housing Stakeholder Reference Group workshop

•       80 written email submissions

This report provides a comprehensive summary of the feedback received during these engagement activities and identifies key findings and recommendations for
consideration in finalising the Noosa Housing Strategy.
