buses with a frequency of 15 minutes or less.
Additional internal signage was used to direct people to various car parks within the Noosa
Junction. The timed parking closest to the Transit Centre was adjusted from 2 hours to a mix of 6
hours and 30 minute parking to allow people to both Park & Ride and go shopping.

Operational effectiveness:
Feedback obtained showed that more than half of the survey respondents did not Park & Ride. The
number of people using dedicated Park & Ride has decreased compared to previous years despite
an increase in signage and marketing of the Park & Ride locations.
The decrease in Park & Ride use is more than the decrease in bus patronage which may suggest
people are choosing to walk to their nearest bus stop as well as choosing their own Park & Ride
locations colloquially known as “Hide & Ride”.
Data obtained:
27% of survey respondents indicated that they used the dedicated Park & Ride locations. This is a
decrease from the previous year survey results where 40% of survey respondents used Park & Ride.
Of those that used the dedicated Park & Ride locations:
° 24% used the Noosa AFL grounds (consistent with previous year)
° 19% used the Noosa Junction Transit Centre (down from previous year)
° 18% Noosa Junction (other)
° 4% The J and
e 35% used other locations.
Importantly, this suggests that free bus users are aware of the AFL grounds as an alternative parking
location and there is opportunity to increase use of this site.
The annual car park count survey on 3 January 2021 highlighted that car parking usage at
Noosa Junction was significantly lower than previous years as depicted in the graph below. This
may be due to the 3 January 2021 being a Sunday.
