Lobbying Mayor - Bowie MCU12/0184
Subject: cr BCS 870 FYI Mayor MCU12/0184 Please oppose broiler farm From: Judy Bowey Date: 2013-12-05T09:23:41+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council Dear Mayor Jamieson I am writing to protest against the proposed broiler farm on Top Forestry Road, Cooroy, and request you to oppose it. The developer could not wait for Noosa Council to approve this proposal; he knew it would not get past because it violates everything that Noosa stands for. Apart from the environmental impact, which is likely to be great, this project poses an immediate health risk, given that neighbouring properties all rely on tank water for both domestic use. Broiler farms clearly emit large amounts of toxic dust. There has been no analysis of the articulate matter emitted from the sheds or fallout impact on rainwater collection by district properties. In addition, the large increase in heavy vehicles travelling on narrow roads (Belli Crek Road) and dirt roads (Top Forestry Road) create an immediate danger. There have been several fatal accidents already on this road in the last year or so. It is totally unfair to give approval for such a farm, given that it clearly violates the health of residents for a radius of several kilometers and the likely intentions of the Noosa Council. To then burden Cooroy ratepayers and the Noosa Council with the responsibility for dealing with the health issue created by a proposal that they vehemently oppose is totally inappropriate action for the Sunshine Coast Council. I trust you will join your own expert planning staff in rejecting this application. Yours sincerely Judy Bowey
