Submission - MCU18.0166 - Kate Brown
Noosa Shire Council Kate Brown PO Box 141 5 Boxsell Rise Tewantin Qld. 4565 Sunrise Beach Qld. 4567 11 June 2019 Your Ref.: MCU18/0166 NBN Tower At 244 Tablelands Rd, Cooran I forward to you my concerns regarding the proposed development of an NBN Tower at 244 Tablelands, Cooran. It is my understanding that this tower will be 36 meters high and will extend above the surrounding vegetation by close to 20 meters. The tower will also be built on a defining ridgeline adjacent to a section of the Noosa Trail Network. The Visual Impact Report, submitted by the applicant, clearly has many errors and omissions in it. Presumably in an attempt to conceal the true impact this tower has on the visual amenity of the area. There would be a very high visual impact from surrounding properties as well as the Noosa Trail Network. The NBN tower would be silhouetted against the skyline from most of the eastern section of trail #3 the track connecting Arthys Road and The Noosa Trail Network. With some parts of Trail #3 being in very close proximity of the proposed NBN tower. The NBN tower will also be visible against the views of Mt Cooroora in Pomona. The main attraction of these tracks in this area is for the enjoyment of the visual amenity of the area. The NBN tower would clearly spoil this for all who visit this unique area.. It appears council has at some time enforced the policies that govern telecommunication towers to the existing Telstra Tower located adjacent to the proposed site. This tower is below the natural ridgeline with the top of the tower being well below the treetops. With the tower having a low to moderate impact to the area. As such we expect Council to do the same for this proposed NBN Tower. The policies of the Noosa Planning Scheme Policy 23 Telecommunication Towers should be upheld with respect to this proposed new tower. This proposed NBN tower does clearly not adhere to the purpose of this scheme. The Noosa Plan is to reinforce the regions unique identity and character. Including the Rural Zone Code protecting the Mary River Catchment area, to ensure the scenic and environmental values. Therefor the location should be changed to ensure the proposed NBN Tower falls within these policies. Yours faithfully K. Brown Bnr \ `-k `21
