Neighbours Zone (NZ) – the neighbours loads for each regional ecosystem.
Zone has been introduced to identify
areas that abut the property and where Fire Management Units
particular bushfire management actions
are required such as the management of Fire Management Units (FMU’s) are discrete
firebreaks and fire management lines areas usually defined by fire trails and/or
with the objective of mitigating impacts firebreaks and within which the management
to those neighbouring assets and people of fuel and vegetation is undertaken (see
living and/or using those areas. Figure 12).
Management objectives: - Tables 3 to 8 below provide a description of
each of the fire management units identified
within the Land Fill site.
Table 2 – Fire Management Unit 1
Description This unit encompasses the Doonan Waste Management Centre including
the land fill area and all, structures within the centre.
Small areas of narrow vegetation which has been retained along the sites
southern boundary have also been included within the area.
This FMU includes the powerline alignment even while it is not on the
property and the small triangle of the property south of the powerline and
north of Emu Mountain Road
The western edge of the Unit abuts Unit 2 which forms both a visual and
dust management buffer to the Eumundi – Noosa Road and properties on
the western side of that road. The northern boundary abuts FMU2 and
FMU3.
The land to the south of the powerline alignment has also been included
into FMU1.
The structures in the north-western corner of the facility are located less
than 5 metres from the adjacent vegetation. While this structure is a
storage shed, it potentially contains flammable materials and substances
from time to time and as such are at risk from a bushfire event.
Access to FMU Via the main access point from the Eumundi – Noosa Road and
internal vehicle roadways
Via FT1 which provides separation and access around he current and
proposed re-developed waste management centre service and
administrative area.
Limited access may be available off the round-about at the junctions
of Emu Mountain Road and Walter Hay Drive. However this access
may be restricted from time to time by access over and through the
table drain.
