                 Attention: Mr Denis Wallace,

RE: Greenwood Grove - Garnet Street Upgrade
                 Response to Dennis Pitman
Further to our site inspection and subsequent correspondence issued Friday, 31 October 2014, SMEC and
Hydrology & Water offer the following:
Item 1 - Confirm / Certify that the 20% blockage factor has been assessed in accordance with ARR 2014
                 methodology.
Response: Attached with this letter is a response from Hydrology & Water dated 5 November 2014.
Item 2 - Confirm that modelling shows 300mm + freeboard is maintained to Pitman’s house. Council’s records
indicate their FFL is at 110.565.
Response: Hydrology & Water has confirmed that the “1 in 100 Annual Exceedance Probability (AEP) design
flood level, adjacent to the main building on the Pitman’s property, for the upgraded Garnet Street culvert case
with a 50% blockage factor is up to a maximum of 110.06m AHD. This means that, even under high blockage
conditions, the building will still have over 500mm freeboard to the peak 1 in 100 AEP flood level”.
Item 3 - Confirm that consideration for their access provisions accords with QUDM.
Response: Hydrology & Water has reported the small culvert crossing under the Pitman’s driveway will be
subject to reduced flood levels during the Q10 event (and smaller) due to the Garnet Street culvert upgrade.
As part of the Garnet Street upgrade a new breakout type driveway will be constructed to tie-in with the new
kerb. Beyond this, the Pitman’s driveway will remain unchanged as this is outside the current scope of works.
Please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned should you have any queries or require further information.

                 Regards,
                FA ray =
