PM Submission Object - Jon Rottman - MCU16/0153 & REC16/0041
5. A ny housing development should include green spaces, public spaces, shade and provision for natural breezes to flow through. This high density development does not consider any of these elements and will make Peregian Beach a far less pleasant place to live. 6. The construction of the development will mean excessive noise for people living along David Low Way and adjoining streets. The noise will also impact on the PB Hotel, Hardware store, small businesses & homes near the roadways & roundabout. This will impact greatly on the quiet natural lifestyle we all enjoy in Peregian Beach. Al fresco dining at the restaurants and cafes will be also affected, as well as the park and all the spaces where we enjoy hearing the sounds of the ocean and nature. 7. There will be a lot more traffic in Peregian Beach and parking will become more difficult than it already is. There are already traffic queues at all accesses to the roundabout, especially at peak hour times. The layout of the proposed development, its location in an already congested area and the high density nature of the intended housing will mean more traffic backed up on our roads. 8. The motel/hotel building is far too high and will ruin views of the bush and wetlands. The other problem will be light pollution as the starry night sky will be further obscured by the bright lights of the dwellings and hotel area. 9. If this development goes ahead Peregian Beach will lose the peaceful village atmosphere that we locals value so much. 10. This development will also have negative impacts on tourism and the local economy. Increased traffic, noise and light pollution, loss of wildlife and green spaces will destroy the village-like atmosphere and natural features that draw tourists. A decline in tourism will be detrimental to small businesses in Peregian Beach. Additionally, any future eco-tourism ventures would be ruled out. This development puts the long-term economic viability of this town at risk. (if necessary, use separate sheet of paper and attach)
