Hi

I read in the local newspaper about a proposal to build a second gym at the Noosa Civic shopping centre.

I would like to express my concerns about the number of car parking places this facility is likely to take up. Car parking places at Noosa Civic are already at a premium, especially during peak times. As each person using this gym is likely to arrive by car and stay at least 45 minutes as outlined in the proposal, that could possibly result in a further 50 or 60 car parking places being required.

Another concern is that if too much pressure is placed on the civic car park, the centre owners may consider  introducing paid parking, as has happened at other larger shopping centres. This must never be allowed to happen, as most businesses in the civic employ young casual people on minimum wages who would be under considerable hardship if paid parking was to be introduced.
