GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 13 DECEMBER 2021
Finance
The Economic Development Strategy 2021-2030, will be supported by an annual program of work
which will be developed and presented for Council’s consideration as a part of the annual operational
planning and budget process.
Risks & Opportunities
There is no statutory/legislative requirement attached to the economic development function within
Queensland Councils. There is however a community expectation that Council considers the
economy and plans for its development.
Not only does the Strategy align with the following Council strategies, it adds value to them:
Environment Strategy, Transport Strategy, Climate Change Adaptation Plan, Climate Change
Response Plan, Zero Emissions Strategy, Cultural Plan and Sustainability Principles.
There is no risk to Council in adopting this Strategy but rather a risk to reputation from not having an
up to date economic strategy in place.
Operational risks and opportunities will be assessed for individual programs as they are developed
as a part of the annual budget process.
