BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Noosa Shire Council operates three holiday parks which offer a wide variety of unique
experiences for visitors. All holiday parks operate under a management agreement with varying
terms to suit the scale of the operation. Council appoints onsite managers to operate each of the
holiday parks. Contract costs are commission based set at 25% (standardised across the former
Sunshine Coast Regional Council Holiday Parks) of budgeted annual revenue. 25% of any
revenue earned in excess of the annual budget is also provided as a commission incentive for
the onsite managers (payable on the anniversary of the agreement).
The Boreen Point Campgrounds, located at 1 Esplanade Boreen Point on the shores of Lake
Cootharaba is a low scale campground.
In December 2013, the Sunshine Coast Council Holiday Parks Manager entered into a
caretaking agreement with the current managers (Maclean Parks Pty Ltd) due to the original
management company going into liquidation by order of the Federal Court.
The caretaking agreement was an interim arrangement designed to provide business certainty to
holiday park guests, the operators and particularly to the new Noosa Council given the impending
Christmas holidays and commencement of Council from 1 January 2014. The caretaking
agreement was an interim arrangement only, in accordance with the procurement policy and
guidelines.
