7.0 SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
In accordance with Appendix 3 of the State Planning Policy: Mitigating the Adverse
Impacts of Flood, Bushfire and Landslide, 2003, paperbark and wallum heath vegetation in
the western portion of the subject site, and large expanses of similar vegetation in the
adjacent Noosa National Park have been assigned a Medium bushfire hazard. After
factoring in standard 50m safety buffers adjacent to Medium bushfire hazard areas, a
large portion of the site is captured within a Medium bushfire hazard area

The assessment also determined that under predominant regional fire weather winds from
the north to west, there is a continuous flammable pathway to the development site. The
site is contiguous with hazardous vegetation to the west and although this vegetation
occurs in a low-lying area and was partially inundated during the site inspection, it was
considered that during extended drought periods this vegetation may pose a bushfire risk
to the site.

Quantitative modelling was completed to determine the potential impacts of a bushfire in
the event of a fire head impacting on the site from hazardous vegetation. The modelling
predicts slow moving, but very high potential intensity fires from the west with predicted
maximum flame lengths of approx. 10.5m.

Numerous bushfire reduction measures have been recommended herein, which if
adopted, will assist in the protection of people and property during a bushfire emergency.
These recommendations are summarised in Table 11 below for ease of reference.
