1. INTRODUCTION & BRIEF
The Owners are proposing a three (3) bedroom dwelling to be serviced by an Aerated On-site
Sewerage Facility supplying advanced secondary treated effluent to above ground irrigation.
2. SITE INVESTIGATION
Ground Drill
Soil Category 5 Percolation 0.06 - 0.12 mm/day
Structured Moderately DIR 3
Soil Type: Light Clays Site Classification “M-P”
3. EFFLUENT DISPOSAL AREA
The effluent disposal area is to be fixed heavy droplet wobbler sprinklers onto existing vegative area.
Place a clay bund mounding around the upper sides of the disposal area to divert stormwater around
the area. Install 9 turf heavy droplet wobblers with a maximum throw of 3m radius.
4. TOTAL DISPERSAL AREA FOR IRRIGATION
Bedrooms 3 People 5 persons
Water Supply Rain Daily flow per person 120 Litres per day
Total Daily Flow Loading = 600 Litres per day
Therefore Total Disposal Area System Design Flow = 600L = 200
DIR 3
In this case adopt 254 square meters of irrigation area due to the size of the wobblers.

Effluent quality requirements must be confirmed with the relevant local council before proceeding and
when tested shall comply with the following:

7. DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONS
Water conservation implementation will reduce the hydraulic load on the Land Application Facility and
subsequently improve its performance and serviceable life.
Effluent quality from the treatment plant must comply with the criteria presented in the Plumbing and
Drainage Act, Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code and AS/NZS 1547-2012 On-Site Domestic
wastewater Management and be confirmed with the regulatory authority.
8. INSTALLATION NOTES
All installation works, components and fittings must comply with AS/NZS 3500, AS/NZS 1547-2012 On-Site
Domestic Wastewater Management, Plumbing and Drainage Act, Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater
code, the EPA, Health Act, The Integrated Planning Act and Local Authority.
Land Application Facilities and treatment systems/service plants (wastewater treatment unit and disposal
areas) must be located with good and clear access for servicing and maintenance requirements.
The exiting ground proposed for use as the Land Application Area shall be lightly scarified along the contour
to a maximum depth of 200mm prior to the construction and/or installation of the land Application Area.
Care should be taken with the layout and construction of supply line trenching/pipe work, as with all
drainage, plumbing and electrical trenches to inhibit surface water infiltration along and into the Land
Application Area. All supply line excavations and trenching shall be backfilled with interceptors.
Correct pipe layout and Land Application Area construction/installation is an essential part of our
recommendations and design. If the site is not prepared in accordance with our design, or is prepared
inadequately or is prepared poorly, inefficiencies may occur and we do not take responsibility for the
consequences in such cases and we will make an additional charge if as a result, more testing, re-designing
or re-writing of the report is necessary.
All irrigation areas are to have bunded walls for retention to the perimeter of the designated area.
THE LAND APPLICATION AREA SHALL:
not be located on land prone to water logging or subject to floodwater inundation
be sited to be open to prevailing winds and not totally shaded from sunlight
be protected from roof water discharge, surface water flow and/or seepage
have no runoff or seepage of the applied effluent beyond the designated area
be regularly inspected and maintained
have the mandatory signage prominently displayed
have boundaries clearly delineated.
It is essential that all associated storm water flows from this and neighboring allotments, driveways, roads,
tanks and roofs be diverted away and well clear of the proposed Land Application Area.
Enviro Water Design requires an inspection for certification to be carried out prior to commissioning, and
preferable during construction, to ensure code compliance and that ‘Best practice’ principles have been
utilized.

PLANTING REGIME
No plantings to be within 3m of the trench / beds. However, further qualified advice from local
nurserymen and the local regulatory authority should be preferred when choosing plants so as not to have
any root invasion of the system.
A good grass cover over the trench / bed System is required to improve the efficiency of the system with
the uptake of nutrient and natural transpiration processes. Grasses should be kept well mown and raked
for better evaporative and transpiration processes (avoid throwing grass clippings onto the Land
Application Area). Shrubs should be kept well pruned for better evaporative and transpiration processes.
Do not plant shrubs or trees within the surface water diversion drains, as these drains need to be kept free
of obstruction and trash for maximum diversion efficiency.
Depending on the dose loading of the system future planting may need to be placed to the low side of the
land application facility.
SEPARATION DISTANCE REQUIREMENTS
One of the most important parameters to consider in the location of Land Application Areas is the
separation distances, both vertical and horizontal (Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code). Poorly or
inappropriately selected ground may contribute to the pollution of surface water and groundwater,
ponding and eutrophication.
