4.6 Foundations
Performance Criteria: -
Found within rock where practicable.

% Use rows of piers or strip footings oriented up and down slope.

¢ Design for lateral creep pressures if necessary.

¢ Backfill footing excavations to exclude ingress of surface water.
Acceptable measures: -
All founding should be to homogeneous soil types, and based on the amount of earthworks anticipated
the founding target stratum should be the rock/clay matrix below 1.2 metres depth (refer borehole
one).
