REPORT
Background
The 2014/2015 Operational Plan identified the development of a Social Plan for Noosa Shire as a
key objective. A Noosa Social Strategy was adopted in December 2015 covering the period
2016- 2023 (The Social Strategy) which sets out Noosa’s aspirations and social priorities for the
next seven years.
The Social Strategy articulates four key themes which provide the focus for the Strategy’s key
initiatives and actions. They are:
Cohesive and resilient communities
Active and healthy communities
Accessible, diverse and affordable communities
Creative and informed communities.
When the Strategy was approved at the Ordinary meeting on 17 December 2015, Council
requested the Chief Executive Officer to develop an Implementation Plan detailing a three year
action plan to support the Social Strategy.
The Implementation Plan was prepared and presented to Council in July 2016. It is a whole of
Council plan but primary responsibility for its implementation rests with the Community
Development team.
Implementation Update highlights for 2016/2017
Delivery of the three year Social Strategy action plan is on track (refer Attachment 1 Noosa
Social Strategy Implementation Update 2016/2017).
