SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 JULY 2017
2017/18 Priorities
While there has been good progress towards achieving the outcomes detailed in the three year
Social Strategy implementation plan, there remains a considerable body of work to be
undertaken.
It is therefore recommended that the Plan remain substantially as is for the next two years,
before being reviewed and updated in July 2019 with the following additional actions:
Updating the 2006 Noosa Social Charter to have a greater focus on social justice and
inclusiveness.
The Community Round Table focus in 2017/18 to deal with issues of affordable housing
and homelessness which have been highlighted through the work undertaken to date by
the roundtable’s work with the residents of Johns Landing.
As part of this work on homelessness that Council work with the round table to advocate for
improved State and Federal funding and programs which aim to reduce social isolation and
support people with mental illness.
