MCU 20/0027 & 20/0004 Dear Sir/Madam, I am the co-owner of Maple Street Surgery, a practice located within Eden Rehabilitation Hospital, directly opposite the proposed development. We are the largest and longest established practice in the locality. Our doctors are excited at the prospect of a superior radiology centre in town, especially Noosa Radiology as they do enjoy an excellent reputation within this growing district and will bring new and important services to Cooroy. The purpose for this submission is to advise Council that we are extremely uncomfortable with the financial security offered by the current owners of Eden, Healthecare. A google search will reveal that they are already in debtor administration and their main backer (Goldman Sachs) a week ago said they wanted out. We need to relocate within 3 years at the very most having just been tied to a new lease, or we have no practice. We are assuming we can stay there for 3 years, regardless of the lease in place. Where would you suggest we go? We would require about 400m2 as we have 8+ doctors and thousands of patients? If we moved into town, say in Circa, it would be allowable and indeed preferable from our patient’s perspective, but it would make an impact on parking within the town. Parking on this site is a massive bonus to us as it’s a disaster atm, and Eden has been approved to get bigger somehow. We are in discussions with the Director of proposed development with a view to moving into the premises as a tenant. It is a perfect location for us and why I wanted to buy it sometime ago. Either way, regardless of the result of those negotiations, this town is in desperate need for new allied services, including X-Ray and Pathology in particular as many of our clients are being sent to Noosa for tests. I am unsure of the compliance of proposed development with the town plan, but the town would benefit from a medical facility of the scale proposed in that location, as would thousands of our patients.
