THE CALILE HOTEL, SERENITY CLOSE, NOOSA HEADS. | am a resident of Serenity Close. | have no objection at this time to the proposed hotel and resort building provided there is no negative impact on neighbouring properties regarding services and Serenity Close street parking. However, | have strong concerns regarding increased traffic and pedestrians. It is already problematic both driving and walking in the vicinity. Driving along either one of the two access streets (Katarina & Grant St) to Serenity Close are, in my opinion, unsafe. Pedestrians do not have a continuous footpath on either road and have to step out into the road. For example, young families with pushchairs would find it impossible to walk to Hastings St from the hotel. E-scooters and bike riders would be equally problematic. | also feel the traffic report submitted with the application does not reflect the reality of traffic during school holidays/event weekends and Christmas — it is currently difficult to access Noosa Drive and is likely to be horrendous in a few years’ time. (It seems to me that Banksia Street North should be opened up possibly with either a low speed limit or speed bumps if residents are also concerned about speed and safety). | also think Noosa should be encouraging walkers and would like to see a walk way from The Calile to Hastings Street along the water to Lions Park. Although | believe the plan to introduce a boardwalk from the Junction to Lions Park is a positive, it will likely further exacerbate parking and safety on Grant St and Katarina St. In summary, | feel the Council should seriously consider the safety of the vicjnity’s infrastructure.
