GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 17 JULY 2017
It is proposed to advertise externally for the position in order to ensure that the role is filled with
an individual who ideally has project management and transport planning experience.
Previous Council Consideration
Ordinary Meeting, 15 June 2017, Item 3, Page 13
That Council note the report by the Project Officer to the Services & Organisation Committee
Meeting dated 6 June 2017, and:
A. Adopt the Transport Strategy 2017-2027, provided at Attachment 1 to the report and
authorise the CEO to make minor changes as necessary;
B. Adopt the amended Transport Policy provided at Attachment 2 to the report; and
C. Request the Chief Executive Officer to report to a future Council meeting with an
Implementation Plan for the Transport Strategy and Transport Policy to ensure that tangible
actions can be undertaken in both the short and medium term following the adoption of the
Transport Strategy and Transport Policy.
Finance & Risk
The funding of this position was discussed at the Transport Strategy Governance & Planning
Workshop with the Leadership Team on 30 June 2017. The position is proposed to be funded
from the Sustainable Transport Levy.
The Transport Strategy is a key document which provides guidance for the next 10 years on
addressing the transport challenges faced in the Noosa Shire. Inadequate resourcing of the
Strategy may result in haphazard responses which may not be aligned to coordinated outcomes
at improving issues of congestion, car parking, public transport and active transport.
