Entertainment Noise Assessment

5 Conclusion and Recommendations
A noise assessment was conducted at Sunshine Beach Surf Club by Live It Acoustics
personnel.

The assessment demonstrated that noise emanating from the venue could produce nuisance
noise at the representative affected premises if noise levels at the source are not managed.
Therefore, to comply with the requirements of the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation with
regards to amplified entertainment at the venue, the following recommendations should be

       1.      Noise emanating from the premises, including amplified and/or non-amplified noise
               must not exceed the following levels, fast response, when measured at:

               Location 2 (L2) –
               1m from retaining wall, perpendicular to centre of the single door on Northern façade
               of RAP.1. GDA2020 lat/long: -26.40662, 153.11198
                          a) 61 dBA between 10:00AM and 6:00PM.
                          b) 56 dBA between 6:00PM and 10:00PM.
                          c) 58 dBC between 10:00PM and 12:00AM.

               Location 3 (L3) –
               1m from grey retaining wall, in-line with ocean-facing balcony of RAP.2. GDA2020
               lat/long: -26.40659, 153.11171
                           a) 61 dBA between 10:00AM and 6:00PM.
                           b) 56 dBA between 6:00PM and 10:00PM.
                           c) 55 dBC between 10:00PM and 12:00AM.

               Location 6 (L6) -
               Directly over tactile indicators at edge of footpath and carpark entry.
               GDA2020 lat/long: -26.40578, 153.11206
                          a) 55 dBA between 10:00AM and 6:00PM.
                          b) 56 dBA between 6:00PM and 10:00PM.
                          c) 63 dBC between 10:00PM and 12:00AM.

       2.      If noise measurements are unable to be taken at the locations identified in Item 1 (the
               CEMLs), noise measurements should be taken at 3 metres from the primary sound
               source (the SLPAs). Noise limits at the SLPAs are indicated in Table 7.
