Community feedback about construction
As per the permit requirements, TNC maintained a formal community feedback and complaints mechanism for the
construction process. A specific email address was generated to receive complaints and concerns. Local residents could also
use this contact point to ask for more information, and to volunteer for project activities.
TNC also tracked complaints and concerns registered with NC and State Member for Noosa, The Honourable Sandy Bolton
(MP).
Throughout construction, one formal complaint was received, and one concerned resident contacted council, with whom
TNC is following up (Table 7).
Most public interest in the construction works was seen in the first few days as the load out site was being established. Many
curious onlookers dropped by and talked with the construction team from M&J Marine Services. M&J reported to TNC that
there were no complaints and people seemed more curious than concerned.

Community member Issue with the load out site. Does not believe this is a suitable use of a foreshore
area. Expressed general concerns about shoreline uses and the need for shoreline
restoration throughout the river system. Would like Noosa River Stakeholder
Advisory Committee (NRSAC) consulted on the establishment of load out sites, and
other similar shoreline uses, in the future.
Noosa Sound Resident Contacted NC, concerned about construction works at Noosa Sound East restoration
site. TNC has offered to talk to the resident about the project and will ascertain the
nature of the concern and reasoning behind it.
TNC also offered inspections of the restoration sites to NC staff and to The Hon. Sandy Bolton. Both accepted. Ms Bolton was
given tour of the reefs, a view of construction works underway in Noosa Sound East, spoke with the contractor and received
a detailed briefing about the construction process (Figure 16). Ms Bolton’s social media post of the reef inspection received
only positive community feedback.
