As a regular visitor to Noosa and to The Hastings complex in particular, I was disappointed to
learn of the proposed plans for this development. The Hastings has always provided a unique
alternative to the multiple apartment style offerings that are ubiquitous along Hastings Street.

When in Noosa I have always chosen to stay at The Hastings because of its unique offering in
the heart of Hastings Street. Each individual villa has a unique charm and sense of space,
privacy and proportion that creates an oasis like atmosphere unlike anything else on offer
within the vicinity.

Whilst some of the villas may be a little tired, many have been updated and recently painted,
which has significantly modernised and enhanced the look and feel of the complex overall.

Having reviewed the plans for this development the building seems entirely out of character
with the complex overall. The size across two lots is significant and as a guest, I would be
concerned to stay in any of the properties adjacent or across from it, particularly in relation to
noise and privacy. The open air rooftop area in particular is of concern and I can foresee
many ongoing noise issues that will impact on the enjoyment and peace of other guests within
the complex.

It would be disappointing to see the unique character of this complex destroyed by such an
unsympathetic development and I encourage council to reject this application in its current
form.
