Road & Park Names
The proposed names of roads must be lodged with the application for a Development Permit
for Operational Works. Names are to be
a. Relevant to Australian, preferably local, history, flora, fauna, culture, landscape or
physical characteristics.
b. If used, personal names should commemorate persons who have contributed
significantly to the development of the region; demonstrated outstanding levels of civic
service; or achieved role-model status in the wider community or donated property or
funds for community benefit; and be recognised in memoriam.
Park names should be unique within the locality.
Approval will not be given to a name that may be construed as advertising, is more
than one word, understanding that a geographic relationship such as Cooroy Mountain

marks, apostrophes or hyphens.
e. — Approval will not be given to a name that is the same or similar to the name of another

are not easily pronounced, or may cause confusion to emergency services are to be
avoided.
