both adequate access for local firefighting appliances and adequate egress for residents and emergency
services personnel away from the most likely direction of an approaching bushfire. Evacuations are
available via the Entrance and Exit areas, where there is appropriate space for Queensland Fire and
Emergency Vehicles to be able to turn around and provide defence against ember attack or approaching
bushfires. The rear of the lot contains an appropriately sized fire break between the hazardous
vegetation and the maintained gardens and lawns of the hospice.

                4.7 Electricity Supply

The proposed development will have access to mains electricity supply. Where practicable, electrical
transmission lines will be installed underground.

                4.8 Water Supply

The site does not have access to a reticulated water supply. The proposed building will have the required
minimum level of stored, dedicated, on-site water supply for fire-fighting purposes. The site has access
to a 48,000-litre drinking water supply and an additional two (2) 5,000 litre water tanks used for gardens,
and a 50,000-litre swimming pool, therefore complying with AO3.2 of the Noosa Plan 2020 Bushfire
                Hazard Overlay Code.

4.9 Climate Change and Fire Weather – Projections for 2050

Climate change can act in two ways to affect fire behaviour. First, it is likely to exacerbate the fire-
weather risk on any given day, leading to increased frequency or intensity of extreme and very extreme
fire-weather days particularly within the fire season. Secondly, an increase in the accumulated fire risk
over a year might represent a longer fire season and a reduction in the number of days suitable for
                prescribed burning.

It is recommended to review this document and associated bushfire procedures at the site over the
coming decades in response to any potential increases of bushfire risk from climate change.

                4.10 Emergency Response Procedures

An onsite fire management and evacuation strategy should be developed and available to implement in
the event of an emergency. In the event of a pending fire emergency, assistance is to be obtained by
                contacting dialling 000.

                4.11 Emergency Information Providers
