Sports (including implementation priorities)” to Council for endorsement.
1. Background
In a collaborative effort, Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Noosa Council and Gympie Regional
Council have partnered to develop a regional plan to address the ongoing challenges of difficult
to locate sports facility provision by planning and developing these facilities on a region-wide
basis. Funding was allocated by the three Councils and the Queensland Government (Sport and
Recreation Services), under the Sport and Recreation Planning Program, to develop a Regional
Facilities Plan for Difficult to Locate Sports that focuses on:
Aviation sports, such as hang gliding, paragliding, model aeroplane flying, fixed wing and
ultralight flying;
Shooting sports – all disciplines;
Motorcycle sports, such as motocross and trail bike riding;
Competitive, powered water sports.
