SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 9 AUGUST 2016
The two events generated combined revenue of $35,812, while combined expenditure
came in at $41,030, leading to a total net cost of $5,218. While the events didn’t produce a
financial return, many valuable lessons were learnt and the community benefited from the
opportunity to attend such high calibre performances. A more in-depth analysis and debrief
of the events will be provided to the leadership team shortly.
FUTURE DIRECTION
The J
The service review and business plan confirmed The J’s role as a multipurpose community
venue that caters for a wide range of events, users and activities. Continued focus on the
directives and outcomes of the service review and business plan, while continuing to meet
existing client expectations, is a priority moving forward.
The initial 10-year lease term with the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) expires on
31 December 2016. Early discussions with USC have revealed their desire to activate a
second term of 10 years, as per the option provision within the lease. A formal meeting with
USC will take place shortly and following that, a written request seeking the activation of
the second 10-year option is expected.
Provision of up to 60 additional seats in the upper mezzanine section as per approved
2016/17 capital works project.
Commencement of renewal of ageing sound and lighting equipment in line with funding
allocated in the 2016/17 capital works program.
BCC
As touched on earlier in this report, management will look to enter into a lease for the
Demountable building at BCC for permanent use as a community school campus.
Noosa Gymnastics Club was recently successful in their application for a $512,567 Get
Playing Plus grant from the State Government. The club will match this amount and will use
the funds to extend the hall at BCC. Council officers will play an active role in this project
via the Project Control Group. Meetings will commence shortly and construction is
expected to begin at some point in 2016/17.
