Councillor: Mayor - Cr Mark Jamieson 8. Comments: Mayor Jamieson, My apologies for interrupting your meeting last Thursday the 14th of November. It was not my intention to say anything, but I was quite unprepared for the level of anger I felt when listening to Cr Hungerford trying to convince others that this BROILER FARM proposal will be good for my district. It is my opinion and that of about 90 percent of local residents that this is the worst proposal we have heard of.Vibrant communities need new people coming to live, build houses, sheds, keep horses, cows, dogs, grow vegetables, flowers, ducks etc. and yes even chooks(a dozen or so not 250,000).Would you like to live near a BROILER FARM? Who would? No more buying and selling,no stampduty,no application fees,no real estate commissions etc. Who do you trust to prepare an accurate appraisal of this proposal?Your own Planning Department or the one person who will benefit? I am sure the country needs more food etc. to feed population expansion, however a location near the Kilcoy Meatworks or Nolans at Gympie would be more suitable, probably cheaper land and already zoned accordingly. The applicant possibly could locate this to his olive orchard at Munduberra, still employ the same shed builders, plumbers, electricians etc.As you and all Councillors have the safety and well being of all shire residents in hand, and a duty of care I find it baffling someone could take the view that this proposal and the few jobs it will create, are worth risking someone's,anyone's health for.I imagine you are familiar with Broiler Farm separation distance's,bio-security and your departments traffic recommendations.Mr Milligan is already in the process of relocating his family to his other residence at Minyama,so their safety is assured. Please do the same for my wife and two young daughters. If you feel I have erred or am wrong about something please let me know on 0428 713377. Yours Sincerely Steve Jones 9. Attachments:
