                              Standard Guidelines UG-03/12

When considering Works either on Energex easements or in the vicinity of Energex assets,
please be aware of the following general conditions:

•   No civil works are to occur within 3 metres of the cable centreline unless otherwise
    approved by the Senior Project Engineer- underground.

•   Where large excavations are taking place in the vicinity of our cables, there should be no
    greater than a 45 degree batter to the cables (i.e. if excavating to a 5 metre depth- need to
    maintain a 5 metre horizontal clearance to the edge of the cable trench).

•   Excavations in excess of 5 metres in depth must have a minimum horizontal separation,
    from the excavation to cable centreline, at least equal to the excavation depth.

•   If the easement is to be re-surfaced, the developer must consider that Energex require
    timely access to the cables, especially under network emergency conditions. Re-enforced
    concrete pavements (or similar) over the easement are generally NOT allowed as they will
    impede timely access to the cables. Energex will consider surfaces that are easier to
    remove. (e.g.- asphalt, etc) over the easement up to a thickness of 100mm. please submit
    detailed plans of any proposal for consideration by Energex.

•   The easement may be excavated at any time (and without notice for emergency situations)
    to maintain/repair existing cables and install new cables if required. Access across/along
    the easement could be prohibited for an indeterminate length of time, possibly weeks for
    new cable installations while the works are undertaken.

•   Natural ground levels on the easement shall not be changed without Energex approval.

•   Final ground levels should slope gently to the edge of the easement, surrounding area or
    kerb such that pooling of water on the easement is avoided.

•   Stockpiling of spoil on the easement is prohibited.

•   Any proposed underground services are to be kept out of the easement and are to only
    cross the easement as near as possible to right angles to the cables.

•   Any excavation for services across Energex transmission cables should be no deeper than
    the barrier boards protecting these cables. Under no circumstances should barrier boards
    be removed and the backfill around the cables disturbed.

•   Any excavation under Energex cables should be referred to the senior project engineer-
    underground to determine if cables need to be supported during excavation. Energex will
    be required to fill back around the cables on completion of the works.

•   When directional drilling across Energex cables a trench should be dug beside the cables
    to sight the location of the drilling head as it passes over/under the cables. There should be
    a minimum 500mm separation between the drilling head and cables.

•   Any further proposal for works or development on the easement including those involving
    changes in ground level and retaining wall designs around cables must have prior approval
    from Energex. Please submit the relevant civil design to Energex for approval.
