GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 17 MAY 2021
The first pay rise will apply from 22 February 2021 if there is a successful vote. This is the
date the previous agreement expired. The pay rises are designed to reflect Council’s COVID
recovery approach with pay rises for staff increasing over time. The introduction of a dollar
per week increase is also designed to provide a more significant increase to our lower paid
staff than just a percentage increase;
Improved leave management provisions and clarity on ambiguity in clauses within the
agreement; and
Allowances in the Certified Agreement consolidated and standardised for the life of the
agreement.
Previous Council Consideration
Nil.
Finance
The financial implications of the new CA will be incorporated into the 2020/21 budget.
Risks & Opportunities
The maintenance of a single agreement provides for some administrative improvements from a
management perspective and supports a collective organisational culture not impeded by barriers
between the indoor and outdoor staff. A longer agreement (four years versus the standard three year
arrangement) also enables Council to plan with certainty for a longer term. The most significant risk
of not agreeing on a new CA is employee discontent and industrial action. The finalisation of the
Noosa Certified Agreement is also dependent on a successful vote by staff which is prosed for late
May/early June 2021. After the vote has been conducted the Agreement needs to be certified by
the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
