6.1.1 EARLY WORK TRI-STEM TREE
• All non-retained vegetation and trees within the site and verge are to be removed to
low stumps, with ground vegetation (ferns) beneath the subject tree kept at this time.
• The area beneath the tree, from the edge of the driveway to the boundary, is to be
flagged to create a temporary Exclusion Zone during the house/site demolition.
• The existing driveway is to be retained as ground protection during house/site
demolition works to protect the tree’s root zone beneath.
• The existing driveway is to be carefully removed; see Hard Surface removal.
• The Exclusion Zone is to be extended to the left-hand/western side of the old driveway
outside the trees’ Structural Root Zone. This area will be the Exclusion Zone for the
majority of the project timeframe; see Tree Protection Fencing.
• New access is to be established where the new driveway alignment is to be.
• Canopy pruning to occur to reduce the canopy spread with a focus on longer lateral
branches on the site side and a light reshape to balance the canopy form and
aesthetics. Ideally, these works are not to exceed 20% live growth removal. These
works are to be undertaken by a suitably qualified Level 3 Arborist.
