6. Good governance is achieved through effective and efficient decision making, made in the
interests of the community.
The Enviornment Strategy, alongside the Local Economic Plan, Social Strategy, Transport
Strategy and Noosa Planning Scheme, form the key strategic policy documents of Noosa Council.
The Environment Strategy is intended to inform planning, guide decision making, drive
implementation and priorities for action and investment, and set a shared vision. To this end, the
Strategy will help guide appropriate enviornmental and sustainablity outcomes for other related
issues such as transport, infrastruture, tourism and housing that are covered in other strategies
and in the Noosa Planning Scheme.
The Strategy provides the overarching guidance for the development and implementation of a broad
range of environment-related plans that contain many of the detailed actions, responsibilities and
timeframes for delivery. The final version of the Environment Strategy will include an implementation
plan that will identify this planning framework, key actions for delivery in the first couple of years, and
a clear framework for monitoring and evaluation of the success of the Strategy.
