SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 12 MAY 2020
survive before they can recover, and current estimates suggest that recovery is further than six
months away.
Other recovery initiatives will be explored and implemented to ensure that support is sustainable,
complements Federal, State and other peak body current response policies and funding, uses
existing delivery mechanisms where possible and is proportionate to the degree of the economic
shock and the impact on the economy.
These initiatives are being investigated as a priority and will be presented to Council for future
consideration.
There is a risk that the single round of $27,000 funding will be insufficient and that the demand for
funding will significantly outstrip Council’s capacity to fund essential needs. Council may wish to
consider further funding in the 2020/21 budget process to support the recovery of the community
organisation sector.
