PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 SEPTEMBER 2019
Figure 2 - Proposed Change to Approved Plan
The applicant has submitted a letter from the operator of the facility who advises:
The structure is not a navigation hazard and is outside the main navigation channels.
Vessels are never moored on the outside of the pontoon overnight or for any extended
period.
The exterior edge of the pontoon is unsuitable for long term mooring as the wake from
passing boats causes unacceptable safety risks due to its lateral placement to boat wake.
The Noosa Ferry relies on the pontoon being kept clear.
The upgrade to the fuel system and bowsers has improved safety and environmental
aspects.
The facility is the only marine diesel station between Mooloolaba and Tin Can Bay and the
largest and busiest fuel station on the Noosa River. Any variation to the current facility
would require the structure and fuel system to be dismantled and rebuilt as Code
compliance requires single piece dual skinned vacuum fuel hoses from the tank to the
bowser. These cannot be readily adjusted or changed.
