1.                       NOOSA SUSTAINABILITY INSTITUTE PROPOSAL BY CSIRO’S DATA61

                         Council Resolution
                         Moved:            Cr Wellington
                         Seconded:         Cr Jurisevic
                         That Council note the report by the Director Environment and Sustainable Development to
                              the Ordinary Meeting dated 19 October 2017 and
                         A.     Agree to the appointment of CSIRO’s Data61 to undertake research into the concept
                                of an institute of sustainability in Noosa;
                         B.     Enter into the arrangement with Data61 in accordance with section 235(a) of the Local
                                Government Regulation 2012;
                         C.     Approve the staged investigation and business case development of establishing a
                                Sustainability Institute in Noosa;
                         D.     Refer funding for Stage 1 of the project to the next budget review; and
                         E.     Consider funding of Stage 2 and 3 of the project at a future Council meeting, following
                                the review of the outcomes of Stage 1.
