GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 14 FEBRUARY 2022
• SEQ Economic Development Working Group
Provides a forum to explore coordinated strategic economic development opportunities
across the region; provides a forum for councils to share learnings and engage with industry
and government partners.
Council are invited to nominate one primary Councillor with a proxy Councillor and one
Council Economic Development officer. The staff appointment will be nominated by the
CEO.
Previous Council Consideration
Council makes a range of Councillor appointments to various working groups, boards and
committees. Those appointments only apply until the time of change of Council following an
election and hence this report identifies these appointments only for the term of this Council.
Finance
Council pays an annual membership fee to the Council of Mayors (SEQ) which includes the
representatives on the working groups.
Risks & Opportunities
The CoMSEQ provides this opportunity for our Council to engage more closely with other SEQ
local governments. Representation on these working groups provides opportunities for our
Councillors to engage with elected representatives from other local governments dealing with these
specific topics and gives Council a further opportunity to raise issues with the CoMSEQ who can
advocate on our behalf.
