ATTCH 6 - IR Response - Traffic (TTM)
Attached to the e-mail RAL17/0501 IR Response email 3 of 4.
The proposed BAL left turn lane has been modified such that an HRV can wait clear of the through lane,
should another vehicle be waiting to depart the site driveway at the same time. The amended design and
associated swept path are included as an attachment.
16. Prepare a plan identifying refuse bin pad storage locations for each lot (2 wheelie bins per lot), together
with the path of a refuse vehicle to/from and within the site, satisfactorily servicing each bin
location. Visitor parking should also be identified on that plan (satisfying a minimum requirement of 0.5
visitor spaces per lot) clear of those refuse collection requirements and clear of potential driveways to
the individual sites. Titling arrangements would also need to be clarified for the visitor parking to ensure
that visitor spaces are available for all 6 lots, rather than being associated with specific
allotments. Visitor parking would need to be clearly designated and signed as being for visitors only. This
is important because overflow parking from the site will not be acceptable.
In response to Councils RFI, the configuration of access driveway has been modified such that a consistent
6m wide carriageway is provided for its full length. The t-head turning facility has been relocated to the
northern end of the access driveway, and allows for turnaround of visitor cars without the need to enter
individual lots. The widening of the driveway allows for scattered kerbside visitor parking to be provided
along its length, with parking bay dimensions consistent with the requirements of AS2890.1. Given the
length of the driveway between the tangent point of the curve at the entry northward to the t-head turning
facility, is in the order of 60m, 5-6 visitor cars could comfortably park on the kerbside whilst still providing
ample passing opportunities which would permit low volume two-way traffic. This arrangement is
comparable to a Council local access road. This level of visitor parking equates to 0.8-1.0 spaces per lot,
which comfortably satisfies the Council requirement.
The widening of the access driveway and the relocation of the t-head turning facility now permits a
residential refuse collection vehicle to drive the length of the driveway, turn around at the northern end, and
collect bins directly from the frontage of each lot. An appropriately sized 2m x 1m bin pad has been
identified on the western frontage of each lot.
The turning head has been sized using Brisbane City Council Standard Detail Drawing BSD-3001 for an Offset
T Head arrangement for residential streets.
