Subject: Fwd: Application Reference 132008.176.05 Subject: Application Reference 132008.176.05 To the Planning and Development Officer, Re 3 and 7 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads Lot 11 SP 195871 and Lot SP33547as Calile Resort Hotel Complex Proposal. Council has invited residents who may be affected to have”Our say “ As resident of 36 Banksia Avenue , I may be affected if as rumoured Council is considering opening Banksia Avenue south to north. This road was previously closed to restrict and prevent the “ hoon drivers” from using the precinct as their favoured precinct. The closure of Banksia Avenue has greatly enhanced the amenity of Coral Tree Avenue, Jan Street, Banksia Avenue South and Grosvenor Terrace into a quiet family friendly precinct. At the same time it has enhanced the area as a walking , cycling and scootering area extensively used by the local and holiday residents and particularly children who are safe from intense traffic use. Another benefit and perhaps the most important of all is the environmental and ecological restoration from the closure of Banksia Avenue. The stream-way creek and surrounding rainforest which runs from Noosa Junction shopping centre to the Noosa River estuary is the natural drainage for the stormwater of the area , the water being filtered by the wetlands before entering the estuary. The vegetation is pristine and the ecology supports a considerable wildlife population. The wildlife is able to move within this environment because there is a compromised but safe path through the Banksia Avenue closure as it transits the creek and surrounding area. The Unity Water pumping station is quiet and is not threatening to the movement of wildlife. Nor are the walking trails. Opening the road to trucks and through traffic will seriously damage the ecology of the area. I submit that the Council should not consider opening Banksia Avenue as a part of the Calile Hotel Development Plan. Yours faithfully, William Burns 36 Banksia Avenue Noosa Heads. Sent from my iPhone
