5 Proposed Development Impact Assessment
5.1 Impact and Mitigation Measures

The proposed development and associated impacts have been located to minimise impacts to native vegetation and habitat/wildlife movement corridors.
Potential impacts on ecological values on the site are direct and indirect in nature and are listed in table 4, along with mitigation measures proposed by the
development to reduce the potential ecological impacts.

Table 4: Summary of potential impacts and associated mitigation measures.

 Potential Impacts Mitigation measures

 Planning and Design Phase

• Removal of some vegetation is required from site (54 trees , • The development layout has been designed and located to minimise removal of
Figure 3), resulting in the loss of ecological values including canopy trees, native vegetation and non-juvenile koala habitat trees as much as
      habitat resources. possible.

• Loss of potential breeding habitat and resources, including future • A site rehabilitation plan has been prepared to compensate for the removal of
breeding habitat. vegetation. 162 new plants (107 trees and 55 shrubs) will be planted on site.

 Construction and Clearing Phase

• Potential injury and mortality of fauna due to vegetation clearing. • The construction contractor shall take all reasonable and practicable management
This includes direct mortality, injury or orphaning of wildlife measures to avoid environmental harm and environmental nuisance to native fauna
because of vegetation clearing and indirect impacts such as and known fauna habitat and breeding places.
displacement and dispersal into adjacent habitats that may be at
      their carry-capacity.
