Median household income in Noosa is well below the
Queensland average. In addition median home purchase
and rental prices are well above State averages which
highlight a lack of affordable housing in the Shire. This,
combined with large numbers of people on fixed incomes
such as pensions, a high rate of unemployment and the
growth in part-time and casual employment, tells us that
many residents are struggling to meet increases in costs
of living.
In contrast, the Socio Economic Indexes (SEIFA) also
indicate the existence of pockets of economic advantage
in places like Noosa Heads and Sunshine Beach.
