Linke and Linke Surveys SLR Ref No: 620.31071-R01-v3.0-FEMP.docx Flood Emergency Management Plan February 2024 111 Lake Weyba Drive, Noosaville Council’s defined flood event (DFE) is the 1% AEP flood event with climate conditions as at 2100 (that is, 20% increase in current design rainfall intensity and 0.8 m increase in sea level). The DFE for the site is 2.30 m AHD. This results in a peak flood depth over most of the existing unfilled site of 0.5 – 0.8 metres. Because of the nature of the flooding (backwater from Noosa River), velocities are low, with peak velocities predicted to be less than 0.2m/s for the DFE. 3.1.2 Storm Surge flooding The local area is potentially subject to storm tide inundation due to the proximity to the coast. Weyba Creek joins the Noosa River approximately 1.4km upstream of the ocean. Storm surge is a rise above the normal water level generally accompanying tropical cyclones or intense low- pressure systems. The combination of storm surge and normal (astronomical) tide is known as a storm tide. Figure 5 shows Noosa Council’s storm tide hazard mapping for the area. The dominant form of flooding at the site is from storm tide, although Noosa River flooding also affects the access road. Page 9 34
