It has come to my attention that there may be significant impact on Coral Tree Avenue. Jan Street and
Banksia Avenue during the construction phase of the Calile Hotel, reportedly commencing in 2024.
This issue will compounded by any opening up of Banksia South Road with the Banksia North prtion.
Banksia Avenue was in the past a through road but has been dosed for approx. 30 years.
This road dosure was made to prevent a Tat run' through urban streets, promoting safety in this corridor
for many families, pedestrians and small transportation vehicles.
This has been a very successful outcome up till now.
Any increase in hte volume of trafgfic. mostly in the form of construction vehicles during the construction
will greatly increase the risk of traffic accidents and possible injury to the community and tourists.
When these streets formed part of the 'rat run' human behaviour led to increased spped.
The width of Coral Tree Avenue. Jan Street two way transition zone with a 90 degree turn frequently
experiences near misses witht he current traffic volume and type.
Should the Bansia Avenue portions be joined up again during construction phase, the local community run
the risk of this corridor beinq kept open as people become accustomed to that shortcut.
(if necessary, use separate sheet of paper and attached)

HAVE YOUR SAY CALILE RESORT HOTEL COMPLEX PROPOSAL (195 ROOMS AND SHOP) 3 & 7 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads Hi, We are Karen and John from Coral Tree Ave. We have recently received information that has caused us to believe that the proposed Hotel Complex may have a significant impact on streets in our local area. Construction is proposed to start next year and is forecast to last for approximately 2 years. We are aware that other local committees have already lodged their concerns with vehicular congestion along Grant Street and Serenity Close during the construction period. It has been acknowledged that Grant Street is already difficult to navigate at times and so other local streets may be considered. Earlier this year traffic flow studies were conducted on Grant Street and Coral Tree Avenue and although Noosa Council were unable to provide specific details, it was able to tell us that it was conducted by a private company who required the information for a future development. This was most likely the Calile Hotel Group. With strong committees in the Serenity Close area we feel that unless our local area is vocal, there is a high probability Banksia Avenue will be opened up and become an access route for construction vehicles causing disruption, disturbance and congestion in our local streets ie Grosvenor Terrace, Banksia Ave North and South, Jan Street and Coral Tree Avenue. Of greater concern in our view is that if Noosa Council decide to open up the blocked road dividing Banksia North and South for the construction period they may decide to not close it again. This will of course allow Coral Tree Avenue, Jan Street and Banksia Avenue to become a "rat run" once more. Council has posted a notification on the building site inviting locals to have their say. If, like us, you feel that the above mentioned facts are of concern to you as a local resident, we strongly suggest that you voice your opinion. You can view the development application online or by contacting Noosa Council. When communicating with Noosa Council please quote the application reference number and ensure your submission meets their required format or use their submission form and have your say before 18th August 2023.
