The web site states that submissions should have been in to the SCRC before July 4th 2013. I trust you will consider this submission as I am VERY concerned. This whole area is a significant nature corridor. Within this nature corridor are microclimates creating flora and fauna species unique to these areas. Understandably the SCRC and Noosa Shire Council have enforced that all properties who have creeks and tributaries running through them have grey water recycling systems installed so as not to contaminate the delicate nature of the waterways and surrounds. I personally would not eat any part of these toxic inhumane chicken farm chooks. Therefore I am 100% against poisoning a necessary habitat with rare and endangered species living along the same waterway that we so passionately protect. This property and many others in this area are Land For Wildlife. The toxic runoff from the shed litter of at least one and half million broiler chooks annually with high concentrations of ammonia, nitrogen, antibiotics, cresylic acid, formaldehyde and organophosphate pesticides, would be an environmental disaster with far reaching consequences from potential litigation to destruction of a healthy habitat environment. There would be obvious health risks for children playing in the natural pools of North Blackfellow Creek. Blackfellow Creek North runs directly into the Mary River system. A healthy habitat is necessary not only for the immediate environment but for the myriad of life forms that are dependent on the upper reaches of these tributaries and creeks. Many creatures including frogs and platypus would be at risk of poisoning, and a major concern is with the endangered Giant Barred frog which inhabits this area. Frogs are extremely sensitive to chemicals in their environment as they have a highly permeable skin that easily draws in water and whatever chemicals may be in that water. The local and international community rallied together in strong opposition of the Traveston Dam based on environmental concerns related to the endangered Mary River Cod, Mary River Turtle, Giant Barred Frog, Cascade Tree Frog, Coxen’s Fig Parrot, and the vulnerable Queensland Lung Fish, Tusked Frog, Honey Blue-Eyed Fish and many more species. The broiler farm proposal would have mammoth environmental consequences with irreversible impacts. Jeanette Merrell Ridgewood 21/8/2013 PO Box 137 Eumundi Q 4562
