Weed Management Overview
In general for the purpose of the Rehabilitation and Edge of Development Weed Control areas, weeds are plants

which are not endemic to the Sunshine Coast region and recognised as an invasive species in scientific literature
Noted weed species within the proposed area of works include (but not limited to) dense infestations of Singapore
Daisy (Sphagneticola frilobata), Mile-a-Minute (Ipomoea cairical, Pepper Tree (Schinus terebinthifolius), Cocos Palm
(Syragrus romanzoffiana) and Umbrella Tree (Schefflera actinophylla). All identified weed species are to be

controlled using appropriate control methods
The designated areas are to be managed to control all weeds species listed in the following standards and

legislation
(a) Management of weeds in accordance with the provisions of the Biosecurity Act 2014
(b) Control of weeds as listed within the Sunshine Coast Local Government Area Pest Management Plan

2012-2016
Herbicide application is to be undertaken in accordance with the South East Queensland Restoration Framework
(Chenoweth EPLA and Bushland Restoration Services, 2012). Treatment is to target introduced species only and be
carried out in a manner that minimises disturbance to native plants. When undertaking herbicide application for
weed control, particular care will be taken to ensure that no off-target damage occurs to native vegetation. To
prevent any unnecessary and excessive use of herbicides during weed control activities, a vegetable based dye will
be mixed with all herbicides to be used for spray application. Avoid weed control along drainage corridors during
amphibian breeding season (typically late spring to early autumn). Avoid using surfactants, as many of these are

more toxic to wetland fauna than actual herbicide,
Note: Where Glyphosate is indicated for use in chemical treatments, Glyphosate Biactive or an equivalent ‘Frog

Friendly’ herbicide must be used.

PROPOSED REVEGETATION/REHABILITATION WORKS

Area of proposed vegetation management - approx. 6,000m?

~ requires initial weed removal followed by monthly spraying/weed removal program

= requires tubestock in-fill planting consistent with the revegetation species
implemented in previous works under OPW 19/0138

The proposed landscape works are to be generally consistent with the Landscape Concept Plan LA03
