EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Waste Coordinator to the Infrastructure and Services
Committee date 9 December 2014 and
A. Rescind the existing Waste Collection Services Policy that transferred to the Noosa
Council from the Sunshine Coast Council under the Local Government
(De-amalgamation Implementation) Regulation; and
B. Approve the Noosa Council Waste Collection Services Policy provided as Attachment
1 to the report.
REPORT
Noosa Council has not adopted an updated policy for waste collection services. The policy
provided as Attachment 1 will provide clarity to staff involved in the provision of waste
collection services.
The policy addresses three (3) aspects of Waste Collection Services:
a. The minimum permissible waste collection service for various establishments;
b. The criteria for provision of a Waste Service to infirm residents and
c. The circumstance for exemption from a waste collection service.
Minor amendments were made to the previous Sunshine Coast Council policy, detailing “the
minimum service levels” by the exclusion of 140 litre wheelie bins which are no longer
provided and the inclusion of bulk waste bins which are now commonly provided to resorts
and apartment complexes within the Noosa region.
