3. Details of Submission
I (We), make the following submission:
A development of a petrol station so close to a school is not the best outcome for the air quality
in and around the school. Information from Tom Faragher & Associates mentions the closest
school boundary that might be affected is 30 metres from the station, with the closest school
building 50 metres from the station. Therefore all the air pollutants from the station should not reach
the school. A Spanish study in 2011 (published in the UK Daily Mail) and taken from the Journal of
Environmental Management, recommends at least 100 metres between service stations and schools
It is also not clear if a VR 2 system would be installed at the station as well as a VR 1.
There are, I feel, better areas where a service station development would not further impact the air
our children breathe in whilst at school. I would hope the council would recognise this
and refuse permission for the service station in this location. Thank you.
