Water sources Reticulated water is available from within the facility via hydrants.
Vegetation 12.5.3 Eucalyptus racemosa subsp. racemosa woodland on remnant
communities Tertiary surfaces, (VHC 9.1 Moist to dry eucalypt open forests on
coastal lowlands and ranges)
Narrow stands of Melaleuca quinquenervia – Eucalyptus robusta open
forest within a degraded understorey containing a mix of native and
exotic shrub and groundcover species.
Areas of low to rank grassland may be permitted to grow within the
facility from time to time and this includes areas along the sides of the
main fill area
Management a) To ensure all structures and buildings are setback from flammable
objectives vegetation with a separation distance that achieves a maximum
radiant heat flux of 29kW/m2 (see table 1 above).
b) All piles of mulch and vegetative material is setback from hazardous
vegetation by a minimum of 30 metres
c) All internal areas of vegetation i.e. grassland are not permitted to
grow to a height of greater than 100mm during the spring and
summer months.
Management 1. Ensure all structures are setback from existing vegetation such that
prescriptions they are exposed to a maximum radiant heat flux of 29kW/m2 (see
Table 1).
2. All clearing from existing infrastructure is exempt development if
that clearing is no greater than 1.5 times the height of the tallest
adjacent vegetation or 20 metres whichever is the greater.
3. Keep all internal grassed areas slashed during the bushfire season,
September to May.
4. Maintain the existing linear strips along the southern and western
boundary of the Unit.
Burning regime Non-burn area
Table 3 – Fire Management Unit 2
Description FMU 2 is located in the western portion of the western area of bushland
within the property.
The FMU is bounded by the RSPCA Animal Refuge and Holletts Road to
the north, FMU1 to the south, FT 1 to the east and the Eumundi – Noosa
Road to the west.
Apart from the structures within the RSPCA Animal Refuge, there are no
other infrastructure within the Unit.
Access to FMU The northern boundary is available along Holletts Road,
the southern boundary accessible from a Fire trail, FT1 within FMU1
around the current and re-developed Waste Management Centre
service and administrative area.
The eastern boundary is accessible from FT2 and
the western boundary is accessible from the Eumundi – Noosa Road.
However, due to the volume of traffic along this roadway, traffic
warning and slow signs will be required to manage a controlled or
